The cruise ship Spirit of Adventure for the British shipping company Saga Cruises is leaving to leave Papenburg on Sunday, 30 August 2020 and will be transferred to Emden on the River Ems. From Emden, the ship will later set off for the technical and nautical trials in the North Sea. The delivery of the ship is planned for the next few weeks and will be closely coordinated with Saga Cruises.

The Spirit of Adventure will be sailing backwards again in the direction of the North Sea with the assistance of two tugs. This type of transfer has proven to be a good choice due to its better manoeuvrability.

The following schedule applies to the Ems passage, which may be postponed at short notice depending on weather and tidal conditions:

approx. 01:00 Passing the Emden sea lock

The transfer of the ship is carried out by the team of the Pilot Brotherhood Emden. This year the number of people on board is significantly reduced, taking into account the Corona prevention. The transfer team always trains the manoeuvre on the computer-controlled simulator in Wageningen (Netherlands) to be even better prepared. The 58,250 gross tonnage cruise ship has room for 999 passengers. She is the second ship MEYER WERFT is building for Saga Cruises.
