MEYER WERFT welcomes 34 new skilled employees

Papenburg, 09.02.2026 –

Good news for the 34 trainees from MEYER WERFT, EMS PreCab, RE Interior and ND Coatings, who received their certificates last week at a ceremony held at the shipyard: all of them are now working as skilled employees within the companies and have signed employment contracts. “A strong group of newly qualified professionals,” said Jörg Heidelberg, COO of MEYER WERFT, in his speech to the new skilled workers.

Jörg Heidelberg called on the new employees to get involved and show commitment. Heidelberg himself is the best example of how a career at MEYER WERFT is possible: he worked his way up from apprentice to the shipyard’s management team. The prospects for the shipyard were also addressed by other speakers. “The future looks bright for us. If we receive the order from MSC, there will be work until 2036,” said Andreas Hensen, Chairman of the Works Council at MEYER WERFT.

Training Manager Erwin Siemens thanked the former trainees for their excellent work, his team of trainers, and the many vocational school teachers who also attended the ceremony in the shipyard’s large auditorium.

With the song “Danke” (Thank you) by Udo Jürgens, singer Katja Kupke and pianist Wolfgang Hockmann bid farewell to the newly qualified skilled workers and opened the more relaxed part of the evening.

Students from Year 8 upwards who are interested in an apprenticeship or dual study programme with the MEYER WERFT Group are warmly invited to attend the “Apprenticeship Evening”. This event will take place on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Registration is open until 23 February 2026 via the email address birgit.borchers@meyerwerft.de.
