Gunung Dempo goes on Sea Trials

24th Passenger Ship for Indonesia

Papenburg, 9 June 2008 - Upon completion of interior finishing and plenty of technical tests the new passenger ship for Indonesia, Gunung Dempo, will leave MEYER WERFT on Wednesday, 11 June 2006. She will then undergo extensive sea trials in the North Sea.

The 14,030-gt Gunung Dempo will pass the Papenburg lock around 5.00 pm and will sail down the Ems non-stop towards the North Sea. The ship will pass Weener around 7.00 pm and Leer around 8.15 pm. Passage of the Ems barrier is scheduled for 10.00 pm.

The time schedule is subject to wind and weather conditions and may change at short notice!

During the sea trials the manoeuvring capabilities of the ship will be tested and permanent-load tests of the engines will be performed. Upon the two-day sea trials on the North Sea the ship will return to Emden on 13 June where she will be completed.

The naming ceremony, and the subsequent delivery to the Owners, will take place in Emden on 21 June 2008. Approx. three days later the Gunung Dempo is supposed to leave Emden for Indonesia. Her arrival in Jakarta is expected approx. three weeks later.
