Certification of the occupational health and safety and environmental management systems

Three MEYER companies - ND Coatings, the MEYER WERFT Pipe Machining Center and the MEYER WERFT Laser Center - have been audited for successfully introducing an occupational health and safety management pursuant to OHSAS 18000 (British Standard, Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series). ND Coatings were also audited for setting up an environmental management system pursuant to DIN EN ISO 14001. Today the companies received their certificates from the audit company DQS.

OHSAS 18001 is a globally acknowledged standard that forms the basis for occupational health and safety management in companies. The focus is on protecting people, and on occupational health and safety. It enables staff to take necessary measures before an accident happens or an illness occurs. A corresponding occupational health and safety management system has been set up in the companies over the last twelve months.

At the same time, ND Coatings has also introduced an environmental management system pursuant to DIN EN ISO 14001. Special attention was paid here to defining and assessing the environmental aspects and impacts resulting from the company’s activities, products and services, with a particular focus on the use of coating materials. The audits revealed that ND Coatings is progressing in the right direction by using coating methods with higher coating quality, reduced consumption of coating materials and less overspray, as well as using coating materials with far lower solvent levels. This was confirmed by successful certification.
