The new ship for P&O Cruises is scheduled for delivery in 2022. The 180,000 GRT ship will operate 100% with LNG.

MEYER WERFT and the cruising and leisure travel company Carnival Corporation (USA) have signed a contract for delivery of one additional cruise ship powered 100% by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). This new ship will be integrated in the fleet of the British cruising company P&O Cruises in 2022. The first ship of this type will be delivered to P&O Cruises in 2020.

"We are looking forward to build this innovative ship at our yards in Papenburg and Rostock (Warnemünde) continuing our long term partnership with Carnival Corporation", says Tim Meyer, Managing Director of MEYER WERFT. "Due to our long term order book, we are constantly looking for Experts, especially for our Engineering and IT Departments."

Shipbuilding is a highly competitive market which offers job perspectives for different specialists. The order book of MEYER WERFT reaches until 2023 und thus gives employees a long term perspective for the future.

Rostock based NEPTUN WERFT with its 550 employees will build and deliver large floating engine room units for these ships. These units include the main engine rooms and the LNG tank compartment with all associated equipment, systems and outfitting.

The new ships for P&O Cruises will be rated with more than 180,000 GT and have capacity for 5,200 passengers each. In the framework of the Green Cruising concept, the ships will be among the first cruise ships to run 100% on LNG, which makes them very environmentally friendly.
