AIDAnova is the name of the first ship of new Helios-Class
AIDA Cruises is continuing its long-standing strategic partnership with MEYER WERFT. The shipyard has built the AIDAnova as the first of three ships in the latest AIDA generation. The highlight of the new-build is the Green Cruising concept: The AIDAnova is the first cruise ship in the world to run completely on liquefied gas. This new, lower emission fuel clearly reduces the pollution produced by the ship.
MEYER WERFT expertise was in demand to develop the gas propulsion system. Working together with other partners, the experts have invested ten years of research and development in the new technology. AIDA Cruises will be the world’s first cruise line to operate its complete new generation of ships with liquefied natural gas.
But not just the propulsion is new. There are also innovations in the range of entertainment, the types of cabin and the restaurants. The new cruise ship has a street food mile that is open 24/7 to offer passengers baguettes, currywurst, kebabs and more besides. For the first time, the cruise ship will also have single cabins to make it more interesting for people travelling alone. As far as entertainment is concerned, passengers can enjoy live music or sing karaoke in the Rock Box Bar with its the genuine pub atmosphere. The Mystery Room is based on the Escape Room concept, with a number of puzzles that have to be solved in team work to get out of the locked room again.
The AIDAnova with a rating of 184,000 GT and capacity for more than 2,600 cabins reinforces the AIDA fleet since December 2018.
