Investment in the region

04.11.2008 –

Papenburg, 4 November 2008 - MEYER WERFT continues to invest in the Papenburg region. This was proved by a cooperation agreement entered into with Johannesburg GmbH, an education and training institution for young men located near Papenburg. Johannesburg GmbH and the shipyard have cooperated for many years in various projects dealing with the education and training of young people. More projects, which are already in the planning phase, will be implemented in the coming years. Especially trainees in the metalworking trades as well as gas and water supply trade will be familiarised with real-time working conditions in production departments and associated job-related activities. "Investing money in high-quality, practical job training of young people is money well spent", says Lambert Kruse, Managing Director of MEYER WERFT. According to Wichard Klein, Managing Director of Johannesburg GmbH, the young people from Johannesburg, whose start into the professional life is not always easy, will certainly benefit from the support rendered by the shipyard.
