The "Donations instead of Gifts" campaign generates € 20,000

MEYER WERFT partners donate for a good cause

On behalf of MEYER WERFT, Klaus Lübbers (Chief Procurement Officer) and Jussi Matikainen (Compliance Division) handed over a sym-bolic donation cheque amounting to € 20,000 to Leinerstift e.V. and to helpful Kin-derhospiz e.V.

The building of the Leinerstift special school was destroyed together with countless ma-terials during a fire in summer 2018, The donation will be used to replace the items lost in the fire.

The donation for helpful Kinderhospiz e.V. will go towards building a mobile children's hospice centre for the northern Emsland and adjoining East Frisia. Training will soon be offered here for hospice volunteers to support and accompany affected families in their own homes on request.

The money was collected during the Christmas campaign “Donations instead of Gifts”. Since 2015, with this campaign MEYER WERFT has asked our partner companies not to give our employees Christmas gifts but to support a charity instead.

Many partners responded to the request by donating altogether €13,495. The man-agement of MEYER WERFT decided to top up the sum donated by the partners to the amount of €20,000.

"I'm impressed by the work of these two charities, and am therefore very pleased to see that so many partners have responded to our request. As a result, we can support the two charities with this donation", says Klaus Lübbers.
