First Education Evening at Meyer Werft

300 school pupils visit the shipyard to find out more about the training opportunities on offer

On 20 April, Meyer Werft held its first 'Education Evening' for school pupils. It was already clear from the number of registrations received that the level of interest would be high. Indeed, some 300 girls and boys from the 8th grade upwards took up the offer to visit the shipyard. Some were accompanied by their parents as they were informed about the twelve training opportunities provided by Meyer Werft and enjoyed their first taste of the exciting world of work in the shipyard.

Following a brief welcome from CEO Lambert Kruse and coordinating trainer Erwin Siemens, trainees and trainers gave detailed presentations of the various apprenticeship trades and dual study courses available in our training workshops.

Both trainees and trainers explained each individual profession at various stages during the tour. Afterwards, the pupils were given all the details they needed for applying for a training course at Meyer Werft.

Thanks to the great response and the large number of participants, Meyer Werft plans to repeat its Education Evening next year.
