Vaccinations follow corona tests - 150,000th Corona test

Papenburg, 05.05.2021 –

The number of Corona infections and quarantine cases at MEYER WERFT continues to be at a low level. Both among employees as well as among relatives and partner companies. Today, Wednesday, the 150,000th Corona test was carried out. Even before the legal requirement, MEYER WERFT in Papenburg had tested its workforce for corona up to three times a week - as a compulsory measure for everyone on the shipyard premises. In addition to many other measures, a egulation for working from home for more than 1,000 employees has already been consistently implemented in parallel since 2020, among other things. The success of the measures is based on MEYER PORT 4's know-how and quick action.

Now MEYER WERFT wants to take on a pioneering role once again and implement a vaccination campaign as quickly as possible. Company doctor Dr Oliver Schad: "Our comprehensive corona test management not only protects the shipyard but also stabilises the situation in the entire region. Now we at MEYER WERFT want to take the lead again and start vaccinations sooner rather than later. Depending on the availability of the vaccine, there are different scenarios. The necessary vaccine is still missing, but we are ready, the planning is in place."

MEYER WERFT once again wants to consciously take this pioneering role: After the strategy of working from home and compulsory corona testing - with comparatively more tests than for employees in health facilities - led to success, the "vaccination project" is now on the agenda. Timo Milbrandt, Operations Manager of Meyer Port 4: "150,000 tests, including 100,000 antigen tests, 15,000 PCR tests and 35,000 self-tests, these figures show that we can manage large quantities of tests and vaccine. We have the expertise and capacity to respond quickly to developments."

"The pandemic always presents us with big, very big challenges. However, it shows that we have taken a very good course so far with forward-looking and consistent measures," Dr Oliver Schad continued. "This also includes not closing the shipyard completely over the Easter holidays. Quite the opposite. With our many tests, the situation in the region remained transparent."
