The cruise market is growing, the yard team is growing
The spectacular launch of the AIDAnova, the performance of star DJ David Guetta and the Papenburg Festival attracted 50,000 people to the festival site at MEYER WERFT last weekend. Numerous yard employees also come to these regular events at the location. With AIDAnova the yard and AIDA have brought the first LNG-powered cruise ship onto the market, which is setting new environmental standards. The challenges when building innovative and demanding large projects such as the AIDAnova require special know-how, intensive research and development work, innovative technology and numerous specialists.
Just like the number of ships and the cruise market, the MEYER WERFT team is also expanding. The yard has full order books for the next few years and has even given an employment guarantee until 2030 as part of a location retention agreement. As a result, MEYER WERFT and the companies of MEYER Group will be looking for more qualified employees over the next few months. There are currently 250 vacancies to be filled at MEYER Group companies in Germany.
Qualified skilled production specialists such as welders, shipbuilders, electricians or transport and crane drivers are wanted, as well as engineers and designers. Various IT specialists are also wanted in particular, because the yard is currently working on the implementation of a new IT landscape. This includes, for example, launching SAP across the company’s locations.
As one of the largest employers in the metalworking and electrical industry in Germany, MEYER WERFT offers numerous interesting extra benefits for employees, including work-life balance programmes, an in-house day care facility, a company pension scheme (“Metall Rente”) and a wide range of further education opportunities.
The positions are already being advertised on the company website. Further positions will follow in the next few months.
