Healthy and Fit in Everyday Working Life
MEYER WERFT is strongly interested in healthy and motivated employees. The demographic change and raising the retirement age to 67 years mean that the topic health at work plays an ever greater role. To maintain employability is thus for the shipyard as well as for the individual employee of great importance. MEYER WERFT has recognized this development in good time and has introduced appropriate measures. The company’s mission is to make the working conditions as pleasant as possible for the employees and to provide balanced leisure-time activities as supplement to everyday working life.
For this reason there is the Betriebliche Gesundheitsmanagement (BGM), that supplements the personnel- and organizational development. The BGM is an integral part of MEYER WERFT’s personnel policy and is integrated within the corporate strategy. The company focuses the attention in a foresighted and lasting way especially on factors such as ergonomics, psychological stress and nutrition. A corporation with „Hansefit“, a merger consisting of several regional fitness studios and physiotherapists, enables the shipyard’s employees to engage in fitness- and wellness offers of different providers in Northern Germany at a reasonable price. The performance program also includes custom training possibilities and professional assistance and counseling.
In the course of the corporate health management, there are also various courses regarding topics such as stress management, nutrition, yoga, muscle relaxation and smoking cessation.
In addition, the shipyard’s own physician, paramedics and four health advisors are providing help and advice to the employees. They also support and motivate our employees when they are sick and enforce health-promoting measures.
In order to accompany addicted or addiction-prone employees on their way to a more satisfying and self-determined life without problems of addiction, addiction counselors at the shipyard are offering information and treatment options.
More exercise, better nutrition and extensive health care – the health management of MEYER WERFT is a foreseeing and strong element to strengthen the health potentials and to improve the well-being at work.
In addition to health as a topic, another focus of the social responsibility is the establishment of the shipyard’s own mobbing information center and of an advisory service for debtors. The latter is ready to advise and assist over-indebted persons and families in order to reduce their debts and to properly deal with their financial problems, so that they can once again look with confidence and optimism towards the future. In addition, the shipyard also has a provident fund that is open to all employees or their relatives in case of neediness. Among others, donations of the shipping company, but also donations made by the employees themselves, are flowing to the provident fund. Moreover, there are further shipyard-internal advantages for the employees, such as the company’s direct insurance in the ‘Vorsorgewerk der MetallRente’.
