Iona cruises the North of Europe
The new ship will have a rating of more than 180,000 GRT with capacity for 5,200 passengers. In the framework of the Green Cruising concept, the Iona is one of the first cruise ships to run 100% on LNG, making it very environmentally friendly. The so-called engine room modules for the ship will be supplied by NEPTUN WERFT, Rostock. The engine room modules contain the complete engine compartment, the LNG tanks and all systems and items of equipment related to the engine and its functionality.
In its premiere season, the Iona will be heading for the fjords in the far North of Europe. The Grand Atrium glazed over three decks gives passengers a fantastic view, even when the weather is not so good.
MEYER WERFT is building altogether two new cruise ships for P&O Cruises. After the Iona in spring 2020, the second ship will follow in spring 2022.
