Gas- and Chemical Tankers
On MEYER WERFT more than 50 gas tankers for transporting liquid gases and chemicals were built since 1961. The shipyard has specialized early on building such ships and is ever since a top address for construction such LPG-tankers.
In January 2011, the Dutch shipping company Anthony Veder commissioned MEYER WERFT to build a new LNG gas tanker. This modern tanker named Coral Energy is designed on the one hand for the transportation of LNG (liquefied natural gas); on the other hand, it also operates with a low-emission LNG propulsion system that complies with the strictest environmental standards.
In 2006, the shipping company Harpain Reederei GmbH & Co. KG from Hamburg, a joint enterprise of the Harpain Shipping GmbH and the Hansa Hamburg Shipping GmbH & Co KG, engaged MEYER WERFT with the construction of four ethylene-/LPG carriers.
In 1998 and 1999 MEYER WERFT delivered the tankers Clipper Viking and Clipper Harald to the shipping company Solvang ASA. Some years later the shipping company once again engaged MEYER WERFT with the construction of gas tankers. Four 17.000 m3 big gas tankers should be built till 2008.
