First Outfitted Block for Labobar

Delivery of new ship in summer 2004

Papenburg, 09.12.2003 - Today the first outfitted of 17 blocks in total of the new 15,000-gt passenger ship for Indonesia Labobar was positioned in the building dock I at MEYER WERFT. The Ambassador of Indonesia in Berlin, Mr. Rahardjo Jamtomo, placed the traditional lucky penny on the blocks before the 600-ts crane lowered the block of the new ship. This block weighs abt. 360 tons, is 20 m long, 23.40 m wide and abt. 16 m high. The Labobar is newbuilding number 23 for the island state of Indonesia. The length overall will be 146.50 m, the beam 23.40 m. The ship will reach an operating speed of more than 22 knots and will be able to accommodate more than 3,000 passengers. The Labobar will be equipped with two main engines made by MaK with an output of 8,400 hp each so that the total propulsive power will be 22,850 hp. 32 containers can be taken on board in addition to the passengers. Delivery of the 23rd ship for Indonesia will be in the summer of 2004.
