MEYER WERFT pleased with 'Masterplan Ems'

Papenburg, January 27, 2015 – Both the management of MEYER WERFT in Papenburg and the company's employees are pleased that the State of Lower Saxony, the federal government, surrounding rural districts, and environmental groups have created the 'Masterplan Ems 2050' to serve as a framework for a consensus-based solution to the task of enhancing the Ems region as a space for nature, economic activity and living.

'I am very relieved and pleased that we and all those involved have taken this major step forward in improving the conditions in the Ems area. We all want to see a clean and healthy Ems and at the same time to strengthen the lifeline of the region. And this plan shows we have succeeded. We are very grateful that we can now pursue our joint goals with the state and federal experts and the environmental groups,' said managing partner Bernard Meyer.

As a means of harmonising economic and ecological needs, the 'Masterplan Ems 2050' contract constitutes a binding framework. It aims to remedy the problems associated with silting while seeking to preserve the Ems lifeline as a shipping route.
