Norwegian Breakaway
Norwegian Breakaway is the lead ship in the Breakaway Class. Construction work on the luxury liner began at MEYER WERFT in September 2011 (Yard Number S. 678). The ship was delivered to the American shipping company “Norwegian Cruise Line” in spring 2013.
There are two cruise ships in the Breakaway Class: Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. Both vessels stand out for their impressive size and hull paintings, which are inspired by their home ports of New York (Norwegian Breakaway) and Miami (Norwegian Getaway) – just like their on-board facilities and interior design.
Other highlights include a water park with five slides and a high ropes course. These NCL liners are also the first ever to feature a promenade deck – the 400-metre Waterfront is perfect for long walks.
Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway were built by MEYER WERFT from 73 steel blocks. They were designed with an innovative freestyle cruising concept to give passengers maximum individuality, freedom and flexibility. The vessels in the Breakaway Class remained the largest ever German-made cruise ships before the first vessel was delivered in the Quantum Class.
