On 24th October 2008 MEYER WERFT delivered the big cruise ship Celebrity Solstice with 122.000 gt to the shipping company Celebrity Cruises (Miami/ USA) in the Dutch port of Eemshaven.

Celebrity Solstice is the first ship of a line of five cruise liners which is built by the shipyard in Papenburg for Celebrity Cruises. Its total length of 315 meters is almost three times as long as a soccer field.

The Celebrity Solstice, built by MEYER WERFT and Celebrity Cruises, is a very special eco-friendly ship: extremely efficient systems like photovoltaic equipment, optimized hydrodynamic as well as a very effective submarine paint which amount to an energy saving of 30 per cent with regard to other ships.
