Aurora first sees the light of day

Cruise liner Aurora for P&O floated out

Papenburg, 05.01.2000 - The new 76.000 gt cruise liner Aurora leaves the covered building dock of the MEYER WERFT Shipyard on Saturday 8th of January 2000 following extensive dock trials. The float out of the ship and the will be shown live at our homepage in the internet. The time schedule for the float out will be as follows: 08.30 h - Start of float out 09.00 h - Funnel will be mounted 10.00 h - Float out continues 11.15 h - Ship outside the building dock 12.15 h - Ship moved round to a berth 13.30 h - Ship at the outfitting quay The final outfitting of the Aurora will be continued in the next few weeks. On the 19th of February 2000 the new cruise liner will travel down the river Ems to the harbour Eemshaven in the northern part of the Netherlands from where she will start for sea trials in the North Sea. With a length overall of 270 meters and a breadth of 32,20 meters the ship will offer a maximum passenger capacity for more than 2000 Passengers in 939 cabins. The speed of the cruise liner will be 24 knots.
