Naval Architect (male/female) in a managerial capacity

The division TSD Exterior Design within the Shipbuilding department deals with all architectural equipment assembly groups pertaining to the exterior of a vessel. There are various focuses e.g. steel-constructional equipment (masts, antenna foundations, net constructions for different types of sports, catwalks, screen-washer systems and handrails) as well as glass areas (adhesive glazing, sliding roofs, glass domes, balconies, wind screens and balusters). Additionally the division is responsible for the outfitting of the exterior (floorings, furnishings, wall and ceiling claddings as well as sun roofs) and the construction of special components like e.g. water slides or pool coverings.

Main tasks:

  • Development of project specific targets such as deadlines for drawings, provisions and presentations
  • Supervision and coordination for the preparation of concepts
  • Structural analysis and vibration calculation
  • Preparation and approval of drawings, as well as supervision and coordination for the technical part of the purchasing process
  • Coordination of projects and processes with the customer, the production department and the classification society
  • Supervision and improvement of processes
  • Status reporting towards the project manager and team supervisor
  • Contact person for customers, class, purchasing department and production department
  • Contact person for the clerks on the TSD team

Required qualifications:

  • Degree in Naval Architecture or similar subject area
  • Business-fluent English
  • Knowledge of SEP, Catia, AS400 and Microsoft Office
  • Planning ability and well-structured operations
  • Cooperative personality, strong communication skills and team spirit, as well as commitment, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure
  • several years of work experience

For the development of process-oriented QM-systems within the production and support departments, we are seeking motivated

Students (male/female) majoring in industrial engineering or a technical area for the purpose of a practical semester or a final thesis at the earliest possible date

Main tasks:

You will support a multidisciplinary project team within the QM-department with the development of the QS-systems within a production or a support department. You will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Modeling of processes with the software BIC-Design
  • Support for process audits
  • Support for risk analyses by means of FMEA
  • Development of methods and documentation of erroneous data recording
  • Development of a system to analyze erroneous data and comprehensive key figures

Required qualifications:

  • Majoring in industrial engineering or a technical area
  • Knowledge of the quality standards DIN EN ISO 9001:2008
  • Good technical understanding
  • Good MS-Office knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Internship or thesis PLM (CAD(/PDM)

The innovative division PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) is assigned to develop and introduce the future PLM solutions for Meyer Werft, based on the modern V6-Technology by Dassault Systèmes. Characteristically for Meyer Werft is the single-item production of a highly complex product linked to short development- and production time. Hence, high and specialized requirements arise with regards to the software-technical realization of the PLM solution.

Therefore, we are seeking motivated students for various tasks for the preparation of final or project theses, internships or practical semesters.

Tasks may be the conception and development of individual PLM-solution components, the creation of prototypes for concept protection, up to the assistance of tests and implementation projects or development and documentation of CAD-method development.

Required qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of PLM systems (V6 by Dassault Systèmes would be ideal)
  • Main focus on conception: Basic knowledge in engineering or system engineering, basic knowledge about the use of CAD-systems and CAD-methods
  • Main focus on development: Basic knowledge in object-oriented software development, profound knowledge of the programming languages Java, .NET or C++ as well as enthusiasm for software development
  • Communication skills and team spirit
  • Independent approach to work
  • Flexibility and solution-oriented creativity

We are seeking a motivated student majoring in Mechanical Engineering Informatics (male/female), to prepare the master’s thesis with the subject:

Concept and implementation of optimization processes to unwind nonmalleable plates in Naval Architecture

MEYER WERFT currently develops PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) concepts based on the modern V6-Technology by Dassault Systèmes. Characteristically for MEYER WERFT is the single-item production of highly complex products linked to short development and production time. Hence, high and specialized requirements arise with regards to the software-technical realization of the PLM-solution.

Main tasks:

The existing algorithm is based on a well-known triangulation and produces satisfying results for slightly curved plates. This method should be optimized to the effect that length errors of unwound triangles are minimized.

Required qualifications:

  • Good mathematical skills and interest in numerical mathematics
  • Programming experience
  • Unix skills and experience with the program language C would be assets

Optimization of material provision in the cruise-shipbuilding sector

As of October 2013 we offer internships and opportunities for final theses in the materials- logistics/purchasing department for students (male/female) majoring in a technical, economical and/or logistical area (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, Diploma).

In the course of continuous improvements, MEYER WERFT and NEPTUN WERFT align their production processes based on the principles flow, pull, tact and zero-defects. It is the goal to provide the right material in the right quantity and quality in the right time at the right place. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to entirely analyze and rearrange the processes and supply chains in the materials logistics/purchasing department from the CIP point-of-view.

Main tasks:

You will support a multidisciplinary team in the materials logistics/purchasing logistics department with the implementation of improvements. In doing so, you will be involved in the followings tasks:

  • Planning, organization, implementation and follow-ups of workshops and projects to improve the purchasing, logistics and vendor processes
  • Analyzing the status quo of the processes and structures based on appropriate methods (e.g. value stream mapping)
  • Identification, analysis and realization of improvement options
  • Development of intelligent processes and network-structures (Supply Chain Design)
  • In the context of preparing a final thesis, you e.g. take over the task of entirely optimizing selected and straightforward supply chains

Your benefit:

  • planning, moderation and implementation of improvement projects

PLM–Solution Architect (male/female)

The innovative division PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) is assigned to develop and introduce the future PLM solutions for Meyer Werft, based on the modern V6-Technology by Dassault Systèmes. Characteristically for Meyer Werft is the single-item production of a highly complex product linked to short development- and production time. Hence, high and specialized requirements arise with regards to the software-technical realization of the PLM-solution. Based on the defined PLM-strategy, various PLM-modules are being implemented in current projects. The PLM-division is being technologically assisted with the long-term PLM-development within the scope of the PLM-program. As a result, a wide range of tasks will arise for the PLM Solution Architect. Within the scope of the PLM-program of Meyer Werft, you are responsible for the solution architecture of the new PLM-shipbuilding solution based on the solutions of Dassault Systèmes (Catia and Enovia V6). Besides the definition of the PLM data model, this also includes the Solution Management of the individual modules such as document management, catalogue management etc. In this process you always consider the entire PLM solution, from the data model up to the user interface, the integration with other systems and the interaction with applicable components of CATIA V6, ENOVIA V6 and Delmia V6. In cooperation with other architects from MEYER WERFT IT divisions (IT Architecture, Software Development & Integration, Infrastructure & System Operations) and international teams of development partners, you ensure a reliable und trend-setting overall solution.

As PLM Solution Architect you will discover our company’s project portfolio on a high technological level, which presents itself as challenging, motivating and diverse. Main tasks:

  • Support of the definition of requirements
  • Implementation of divisional requirements in practicable solution architectures
  • Conception of reference architecture
  • Feasibility analysis and technical risk analysis as well as cost-benefit analysis for project planning
  • Draft and expansion of the PLM data model
  • Documentation of the solution architecture and the data model
  • Surveillance of compliance with architectural principles
  • Support of PLM program management
  • Planning and supervision of development, innovation and research ideas

Required qualifications:

  • Degree in the field of information technology, commercial information technology or mechanical engineering informatics
  • Profound knowledge of the implementation of complex PLM systems
  • Experience and knowledge within the scope of software architecture
  • Knowledge and/or experience with project supervision
  • Experienced with JAVA -software development (Java SE, EE and .Net)
  • Experienced with the integration of PLM / PDM into existing IT systems
  • Experience in the scope of shipbuilding or plant manufacturing would be an asset
